Large and exceptional vintage tribal carved green jade/nephrite axe from Sentani, Papau New Guinea. The Axe is mounted in a custom made bronze base and is not marked. In good condition but with a few minor surface and edge marks.
Dates from the first half of the 20th century
Provenance: Ex Jan Van Den Abbeel, Gent (artist) collection; acquired in Amsterdan in 1965.
