Extremely Rare YONI Murano Art Glass Vase by Sergio Asti for Vistosi, ca. 1980
About the Item
An extremely rare vase by the famous Italian designer and architect, Sergio Asti (1926-2021) for Vitreria Vistosi, master glassmakers of Murano glass art whose origins date back to 1585.
This vase, titled YONI, was part of a collection of 8 vases all designed by Asti in the 1980’s. Together they formed the “SIXTIES” Collection. Three versions were made of each vase - ‘Lattimo’ (milky), ‘Filigrana’ (filigree) and ‘Zanfirico’ (elongated colour pattern). The collection was produced in a limited series of 33 multiples per colour version.
This means that the vase that is offered here, which is the ‘Lattimo’ version, is extremely rare since there are only 32 others or less like it somewhere in the world. Some experts have noted that it is doubtful that 33 copies were made due to high production costs.
The vase consists of a compressed bulbous red glass form rising to a milky white glass (Lattimo) funnel-shaped component with a black glass ring between both. It is in excellent condition.
