About the Item

A fantastic and rather large vintage ceramic vase made by the talented Ingrid Atterberg for the prestigious Upsala-Ekeby, Sweden. She is known for a design which is unassuming yet beautiful objects. Her work always holds a very distinct feeling, the patterns simple but they are often graphic, and the colors of the glazing are muted grey with hints of pale blue contrasted with a pale brown, which makes this vase just amazing. It is 28cm (11.02") high and around 11cm (4.33") in diameter and in perfect condition. The price includes free shipping. Upsala-Ekeby Ltd. was established on 29 January 1886, in Sweden. Upsala began with the production of bricks and tiles. In the 1910s, the company began hiring artists. Among the first was Anna-Lisa Thomson and Sven Erik Skawonius. The company’s ceramic manufacturing began in the 1960s in response to growing sales. The company now hired some of their best-known artists and designers such as Mari Simmulson, Arthur Percy, Olle Alberius, Carl Malmsten, Vicke Lindstrand, and Ingrid Atterberg to name a few. The factories closed in 1980.
