Pre Columbian clay pottery vessel

About the Item

A Pre-Columbian pottery vessel. There are hand-sculpted vestiges of a face reminiscent of early figurative efforts. Patina includes traces of red cinnabar and mineral deposits, attesting to the item’s age. When wetted, there is an exquisitely intoxicating aroma of clay after the rains. This item came from a prestigious auction house whose appraisers did authenticate its age, but further provenance is unknown. Pick up in LA or we ship worldwide. 6” W x 4.75” D x 8” H
