Royal Worcester hand painted and gilded two handled vase
About the Item
This Royal Worcester globular porcelain two handled vase features an unusual hand painted and gilded decoration which comprises a series of irregular shaped cartouches formed by stylised foliage, through which are threaded sprays of flowers, all of which sits on a pale celadon green ground. The indented parts of the gilded handles contain the same green ground. The shape number is 1444 which was first issued in 1890, and came in two sizes, with this one standing 235 mm (9.25 inches) high, with a diameter of 175 mm (6 7/8ths inches). Originally it would have had a cover or lid, but like most of these it has parted company with the vase. Nonetheless it is still an attractive item. It is in very good condition and carries the date mark for 1892.
