About the Item
Very rare Goldscheider Vienna Ceramic Figurine of the 1930s:
Representation of a young lady in a brown, Japanese silk coat over light, baggy trousers, hair pinned up with floral decoration, standing upright and holding a large fan in both hands in front of her, floral decoration at her feet.
On a cream-coloured, domed round base with a wavy relief band with black contour, the artist's signature 'Lorenzl' on the top of the base behind the figure.
Designed by Josef LORENZL (1892 - 1950), one of the most important designers who worked for the Goldscheider manufactory in the period of 1920 - 1940.
This Model 6356 was created circa 1931.

Josef Lorenzl
Josef Lorenzl was born in Vienna on 1st September 1892. He started out working at the Vienna Arsenal in the foundry, where he learned the techniques of bronze casting. Working from a studio in the company’s grounds, he was able to produce many bronze and chryselephantine sculptures. Lorenzl was captivated by the female form he became well known for his shapely dancing girls with long, elegant legs and closed eyes. Lorenzl also was a gifted ceramicist, producing pieces for Goldscheider.
