19th Century Japanese Hand-Painted Blue and White Porcelain Plate with Roosters

About the Item

A Japanese porcelain plate from the 19th century, with hand-painted blue and white floral décor with a rooster and a hen. Created in Japan during the 19th century, this porcelain plate features a delicate blue and white décor depicting a peaceful scene: occupying the left and upper side of the composition, large flowers with their leaves are protecting a rooster and his hen. The rooster in the front, is proudly standing up with his feathers blending with the flowers. He is keeping an eye on us while his hen in the background is pecking at the ground, oblivious of our discreet presence! Bordered by a scalloped edge alternating light blue and dark blue motifs, this Japanese hand-painted porcelain plate from the 19th century will make for a lovely addition to any home décor, perhaps placed on a commode, side table or console! The stand used to photograph the plate is not included.
