Antique French Majolica Plate by Orchies, C. 1890's

About the Item

Vibrantly colored French majolica asparagus and artichoke plate made in the Orchies factory in the late 1800's. The plate has a scalloped rim with artichoke flowers and fall colored leaves, the largest flower is a depressed sauce well. The center of the plate includes five purple tipped asparagus on a feathered background. Each plate is sold individually, I have a matching tray as well. I purchased these plates in Southwest France, I can tell the set has been very well cared for. The French earthenware Manufacture d'Orchies was created in 1879 by brothers Emile and Joseph L'Herminé Declercq in Orchies near the Belgian border with France.
