About the Item
A stunning Andre Hunebelle, fully signed, clear glass, figurine modelled as a near life sized Long Tailed Chinchilla sitting on a wedge shaped base. It is signed 'A. Hunnebelle France' to the back of the base. Andre Hunnebelle is best known for his opalescent vases in the style of Rene Lalique -and was good friends with Rene's son Marc. The glass is demi-crystal. This well documented figurine is beautifully executed in the Art Deco style and exceptionally cute.
The long tailed Chinchilla is a native of South America and comes mostly from the Andes region.
After considerable success as a major French Glass maker before WW2 he amazingly went on to be come one of Frances most famous film directors
