Rare Art Deco Pitcher with Fish Motif by North Dakota School of Mines
About the Item
Produced by one of America's great potteries in the Arts and Crafts and Art Deco periods, this unique, sculpted pitcher depicts pairs of exotic fish with spiky fins on both sides. The artist worked at the famous pottery of the University of North Dakota's School of Mines, established in 1913, and signed his/her initials -- TTB -- on the underside. The body of the pitcher is a soft ivory tone, and the fish are incised in the clay and glazed in mottled tones of green and black.
