Thermolord Carafe by Wolfgang Von Wersin For Erhard & Shine

About the Item

The "Thermal Lord" jug, a true masterpiece of its era, offers a blend of both form and function. In 1958, Wolfgang von Wersin introduced the Thermal Lord, an exceptional creation for the German metal manufacturer Erhard & Söhne. This jug, considered the epitome of thermos elegance, showcases an egg-shaped body fashioned from silver-plated materials, concealing a copper core and vacuum glass insert within. Adding to its unique design, the lid features a patented two-step folding mechanism. The jug's distinctive character extends to its cylindrical neck, spout and a handle, starting from the base of the neck, elegantly tapers downward. One notable feature of this creation is its practicality – the thermos can be easily disassembled, facilitating cleaning and maintenance, demonstrating von Wersin's commitment to both artistry and functionality.

Our carafe colection is a tribute to the traditional pitchers of the regions of Tonala´ and Tlaquepaque in Jalisco, these two regions developed during the period of the conquest as pottery centers. Originally these bottles were used to store water in addition to keeping it a few degrees below room temperature, their low temperature cooking allows the jug to breathe water and this in contact with the outside air cools the jug and therefore the liquid inside. To avoid moisture stains on the surfaces where the jug is placed, a plate is placed. The jugs were usually decorated with paintings...
