Flight Barr and Barr hand painted plate

About the Item

Probably a stand or underdish for a tureen, this Flight Barr and Barr plate is decorated with hand painted flowers and leaves done in puce, which sits quite nicely against the white porcelain body. There is a raised ring surrounding the central well that has been gilded, as has the outer rim. The plate measures 212 mm (8.5 inches) in diameter and stands 25 mm (1 inch) high. The back carries the impressed mark of FBB below a crown. It is in very good condition with only some very faint traces of wear. It would date from around 1815-20.
