Susie Cooper Coffee Set Cornpoppy Pattern

About the Item

This bone china Susie Cooper coffee set is decorated with the popular Cornpoppy pattern on the Can shape. The Cornpoppy pattern (pattern C 2176) was introduced in 1971 and became one of Wedgwood's most successful lines of the late 1970's through to the early 1980's. The Can shape was introduced in 1958, and was considered to be revolutionary at the time. It was decorated with numerous patterns and continued in production into the late 1980's. This twenty-one piece set comprises 6 coffee cans and saucers, a coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl, as well as 6 additional small plates. The coffee pot stands 200 mm (8 inches) high, measures 230 mm (9 inches) from the spout to the handle and is 85 mm (3.25 inches) deep. There are two saucers that have firing cracks, and there is some very fine crazing to some pieces. It would date from the mid 1970's.
