Victorian Period Hobnail-Cut Crystal Biscuit Barrel on Sheffield-Plated Stand
About the Item
Beautiful, Victorian, hobnail-cut crystal biscuit barrel on original Sheffield plated stand, Sheffield, England, circa 1870, Cooper Bros. & Son, Ltd.- makers. Hinged lid. Stand measures 9 1/4 inches high (when handle is in raised position) x 8 inches wide (ball foot to ball foot) x 6 inches deep (ball foot to ball foot). Crystal is octagonal in shape and hobnail cut. Its hinged, silver-plated lid, is decorated with a beautiful, etched swan in a central cartouche. The crystal measures 6 1/4 inches wide x 4 1/2 inches deep x 5 inches high. Lower borders of stand are scalloped. Handle swings back and forth. Dark areas in photos are reflections. In excellent antique condition.
