Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Mustard Pot (1841)

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, large antique Victorian English sterling silver mustard pot; an addition to our 19th century silver cruets/condiments collection. This exceptional and large antique Victorian sterling silver mustard pot has a cylindrical form. The body of this 19th century mustard pot is embellished with interlacing scroll designs, composing arched motifs. The upper rim of the mustard pot is ornamented with an applied leaf decorated border. This fine mustard pot retains the original hallmarked hinged subtly domed cover surmounted with an impressive cast scrolling leaf decorated thumbpiece. The surface of the cover is embellished with impressive bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration, incorporating a contemporary engraved crest. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive S scroll handle ornamented with leaf designs to the upper portion of the handpiece. This large mustard pot is supported by four impressive cast and applied scrolling leaf decorated bracket style feet. The mustard pot is fitted with a removable blue glass liner. This Victorian mustard pot, crafted by the renowned silversmiths Charles Thomas Fox & George Fox, is supplied with an associate London sterling silver spoon. Condition This antique 19th century mustard pot in sterling silver is an exceptional gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. The decoration is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and part hallmarks to the interior of cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
