Antique William IV Sterling Silver Mustard Pot (1832)

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique William IV English sterling silver mustard pot; an addition to our silver cruets/condiments collection. This exceptional antique William IV sterling silver mustard pot has a cylindrical form. The body of the mustard pot is embellished with pierced interlacing scrolling leaf ornamentation. The upper rim of this mustard pot is ornamented with an undulating applied gadroon decorated border. This fine mustard pot retains the original hallmarked hinged cover reflecting the same undulating nature as the aforementioned rim; this rare feature indicates the high quality of the piece. The surface of the cover is encircled with bright cut engraved scrolling leaf ornamentation, incorporating the contemporary engraved crest of a unicorn's head erased. The posterior of the cover is surmounted with an impressive cast silver scrolling thumbpiece. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with a cast silver S scroll handle featuring a simplified scrolling leaf decorated thumbpiece. The mustard pot is fitted with the original removable blue glass liner. This exceptional mustard pot is supplied with an associate antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver spoon. Condition This antique Edward Farrell silver mustard pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and part hallmarks to the interior of cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of William IV silver and glassware.
