a substantial antique 830 sterling silver early Georg Jensen Asparagus tong. This sizable and weighty tong exhibits superb hand hammering, evident in its broad base, showcasing remarkable craftsmanship. The handle features a turned design, thick and wide, adorned with a meticulously hand-chased rope motif. The base of the tong is wide and hand-forged, combining elegance with practicality. Specifications: Dimensions: 6 3/4″ (17cm) high x 4 1/2″ (11 cm) wide at the base Hallmarks: Early GI 830s 1920s Georg Jensen hallmarks, along with an import hallmark to Holland Weight: 301 Grams (10.61 oz.) All our items have been professionally polished by our Georg Jensen trained silversmith and are in excellent condition.

    The Grape design was first introduced with the Grape Bowls in 1918. The wine goblet on stem 263A was added to the selection in 1980 when it was decided to create this wine goblet based on the Grape Candlesticks. Three wine goblets were designed; one with amethyst, one with rubies and one in pure sterling silver. As most of Georg Jensen’s designs this wine goblets is in the Art Nouveau style with the characteristic ornamental curved lines, organic structures, decorative ornaments of flora and fauna, and the use of honest and skilfully crafted materials. Like a vine, the stem is twisted and uneven, and small bunches of grapes are hanging down pendulously. Also in these hollowware pieces Georg Jensen has incorporated the nature as decoration.
