Very Good 19th Century Sterling Silver Christening, Hallmarked London 1866
About the Item
The very handsome baluster shaped body decorated overall with richly embossed foliate motifs and having a foliate inspired handle, the interior exhibiting a subtle gilt wash. Raised upon a spreading circular foot with the underside bearing London hallmarks, makers marks for George Richards & Edward Brown and date mark for 1866. The front inscribed with dedication 'Harold Humfrey, June 2nd 1867'. Provenance: By direct descent through family.
In very good overall condition and weighing an impressive 6.46 troy ounces.
Measures: Height, 4.25” high (to the thumb-piece) x 2.5” diameter across the rim.
