Reid & Sons Antique Edwardian Arts & Crafts Style Sterling Silver Teapot

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver teapot in the Arts and crafts style, made by Reid & Sons; part of our diverse teaware collection This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver teapot has a baluster shaped form with a plain circular flared rim. The body of this antique silver teapot is embellished with impressive broad fluted designs accented with concave circular motifs to the terminals, all in the Arts and Crafts style. This Edwardian teapot is fitted with an impressive hinged cover featuring further Arts and Crafts fluted decoration to the domed portion. The cover retains the original carved wood and sterling silver topped finial. This teapot is fitted with the original plain angular carved wood handle, ornamented with sterling silver toroid shaped sockets. The impressive swan necked spout is ornamented with paralleling panelled designs to either side and a band of rivet style motifs to the socket. The underside of this exceptional example of antique silver teaware bears the retailer's mark 'Reid & Sons, Newcastle' and the registration number REGTD, 441659. This teapot was crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmiths Thomas Arthur Reid, Francis James Langford & Christian Leopold Reid of Reid & Sons. Condition This exceptionally stylised teapot is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. Full hallmarks struck to the surface have wear in keeping with age and location. The part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear. Condition This antique 1930s silver teapot is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the foot and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
