Mid-century modern was an artistic movement applied to architecture, interior design, industrial design and graphic design. It had its peak after the Second World War, approximately between 1945 and 1969, in the United States, although it has its roots in Europe, specifically in the Bauhaus school.12
The term was coined in 1984 by author Cara Greenberg in her book Mid-Century Modern: Furniture of the 1950s. It is characterized by its clean lines, simple shapes and cheerful colors.
