Brass pendant attributed to Paavo Tynell, manufactured by Idman Oy, 1950s. Brass with milk glass shades. Beautiful and delicate flower details. Marked Idman. Classic Paavo Tynell style design with Scandinavian Modern touch. Good vintage condition, minor patina and wear consistent with age and use.
Idman Oy was a Finnish company specialising in lighting and luminaires founded by Karl Hjalmar Idman in Pori in 1897. The company first sold lamps as well as glass wear and porcelain. In the 1920s, the company moved from Pori to Helsinki. In 1953 Idman was merged with Taito Oy, founded by the famous Finnish designer, Paavo Tynell. In addition to Tynell, other lighting designers for Idman Oy included Tapio Wirkkala, Maria Lindeman and Mauri Almari.
