The Highwire pendant Light by APPARATUS STUDIO is inspired by the silhouette of famed French aerialist Philippe Petit on his wire against the Manhattan skyline. The “balance bar” is wrapped in leather or suede and can be tilted along its axis. APPARATUS STUDIO is a New York design studio led by Artistic Director Gabriel Hendifar, that uses a narrative-driven approach to explore the relationship between lighting, furniture, and objects in immersive environments. The Studio’s creative output is categorized into Forewords, which define foundational design principles, and Acts, which employ those principles to explore historical reference, narrative and emotion. The HIGHWIRE SERIES is part of FOREWORD I, which establishes a foundational design language based on balance, proportion, and quality of light. This language is drawn from molecular geometry, where compositions of spheres and triangles are connected by precise line segments to convey a sense of captured motion.
