A Beautiful Paavo Tynell Floor Lamp Model 9605 for Taito Oy, 1950s

About the Item

A brass floor lamp model 9605 designed by Paavo Tynell and manufactured by Taito Oy in Finland in the 1950s. This is one of the rarest Paavo Tynell floor lamps, for it is not seen often. Featuring the usual rattan stem, and an adjustable mechanism for the actual light at the top. In typical scandinavian style, the lamp is very simple yet elegant, and the small details make all the difference. The lamp is in very good condition and stamped "Taito, 9605". As seen from the pictures the light can be directed in almost any desired direction, even upwards towards the roof. *Please note that as the item has adjustable parts, so the measurements may vary depending on different settings. Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a Finnish designer who is well renowned around the world for his incredible lighting fixtures and lamps. Tynell is known as the man who “illuminated Finland” and his works can be found in numerous public offices and buildings such as the Finnish Parliament House and the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York. Tynells ability to breathe life into his work has been almost unparalleled to this day.
