Flos Noce Lamp by Castiglioni

About the Item

Collectible Italian Design - Flos Noce Lamp - Castiglioni Lamp Flos Noce floor lamp, designed in 1972 by Achille Castiglioni - the same designer of the Arco, Toio and Snoopy lamps as well as the Brionvega RR126 amongst others. It's a beautiful example of Modernist Italian design, seldom seen and definitely more rare than the other lights designed by the Castiglioni brothers. The present example is the black version, with an aluminum main body, rubber edge and ribbed glass dome. The two lights inside can be oriented through a lever concealed at one end of the lamp. The fixture is suitable for use on the floor, on a table or even mounted on the wall. It's well preserved and sold in original conditions.

Studio BBPR was one of the most relevant professional practices in mid-century Italy. Its founders were Banfi, Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Peressutti and Rogers, and by now you have probably realised where the name of the studio came from. The four fellow architects had met on the desks of Politecnico di Milano in the late 1920s, and by 1932 had already established their creative collaboration. However, they are remember and celebrated for their post-war work, as through their projects they played a fundamental role in the reconstruction of a destroyed Milano. Theirs is the Velasca tower, possibly the most recognisable building in town; as is the Hoepli building, formerly the offices of the Chase Manhattan bank's Italian branch...
