About the Item
Early 1900s sculptural floor lamp with artistic and impressive carvings.
This antique and extensively carved floor lamp is a rare design and a joy to look at. The wonderful tripod base consist of three impressive and all hand-carved griffin sculptures in a Gothic manner. Known to be the rulers over both the earth and skies, they here bring beauty on earth with their presence and they bring light in the night-time when the sky is dark. The good quality AND condition shade matches perfectly with this floor lamp. The shade is made of rawhide. It is a hide/animal skin that has not been exposed to tanning which is why it is much lighter in color than leather. Rawhide is primarily made from the skin of buffalo, deer, elk and cattle and it is hardened/dried. This shade is hardened/dried also and with the light switched on it radiates a warm light and the shade itself too gets a beautiful look and feel.
