Barsony, 1950s Tall White Lady Lamp
About the Item
Barsony ceramics is an Australian company founded in the 1950s by Husband and Wife team George and Jean Barsony in a factory in Guildford near Sydney.
This very large white lady lamp is very rare, especially with its original raffia shade. The figure is heavily crazed, part of the design as she is completely without any color at all. Highly stylized she stands on a circular maple base with a timber column that supports the large drum shade. The figure is attached to the base by two screws going through the base into cork fittings incorporated in the ceramic base. She is impressed marked to the back of the back leg, it is very hard to see because of the pattern but can be felt and seen in the right sort of angled lighting.
This lamp is in pristine condition and at 94cm overall is an impressive piece. The figure height is 51cm.
