Period French Regence Giltwood Mirror, circa 1720
About the Item
This rare period Regence giltwood mirror dates to circa 1720. Its mirror is original with the often desired loss of silvering to the glass. The ornamentation is representative of the Regence period with its poised blend of elegance and charm. In the French culture, Regence remains synonymous with lightness of spirit, delicacy of expression, and intellectual vivacity. Notice the diversity of motifs throughout this mirror: stylized French Dolphins, musical lyre, shells, foliate and floral motifs and the torch and quiver.
Suitable for almost any room of the home, this period giltwood mirror will be a wonderful focal point.
