The book showcases the homes of many prominent designers and socialites, from Terence Conran, Robin and Lucienne Day and Sir Gordon Russell to H.R.H. The Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon. Gilliatt captured the increasing post-war verve for exciting interiors that spread through England, whether working on Kensington Palace, or working on a shoe-string, all of these spaces possess a panache, and a knowingness that any reader can take away with them.
