Pocket barometer by C Baker in original case
About the Item
This pocket barometer was made by the firm of C Baker of 244 High Holborn, London and is still in its original leather covered case. The model number is 7073, and the silvered dial with its blued pointer is surrounded by a rotating altimeter ring. The barometer measures 52 mm (2 inches) in diameter and it stands 19mm (.75 of an inch) high. Inside the case, the base is lined in green velvet and the lid in green silk. Also inside the case is a scrap of paper with the name and address of a previous owner when he was living in Hitchin in Hertfordshire, and his address when he was at Oxford. It is possible that R F Routh was the original owner. The case is a bit distressed and has lost the push button to open the lid. It would date from the early part of the twentieth century.
