Original Iconic Op-Art Poster Created by Lanz Wyman for Mexico 68 Olympic Games

About the Item

Original Op-Art Posters printed for the Mexico 68 Olympic Games. The iconic design derives from the logo that integrated very successfully "Mexico 68" with the five Olympic rings and became the unifying element for the general identity of all the sporting and cultural events surrounding the games. They were created by a team of designers coordinated by Pedro Rámirez Vázquez (the amazing driving force behind the first games taking place in a Latin American Country) and Art Directed by Lance Wyman. This striking design was inspired by the patterns created with yarn in the work of artists from the Indigenous Huichol Ethnic group. We offer unframed* versions in the small square format in black. They have the proper credits for "Impreso en México por Miguel Galas S.A." (the officially appointed press), as well as "Comité Organizador de los XIX Juegos Olímpicos" (Organizing Comitee). The games of 1968 became a turning point in the way these types of events were organized, and many professionals consider its design the most appealing and effective ever. The "Mexico" letters in that wavy pattern are used until today as a recognizable, proud graphic identity for our country and its people.* Framed posters in silver wood moldings are shown as samples of look and size.
