Antique French Doll Mold in Copper, 1910s

About the Item

Complete and intact French doll mold in solid copper. Very early industrially used mold for production of rubber dolls. You very rarely see the body and head together. The mold is unusually detailed to the outside. Both parts has developed a matching rich red patina. There are no apparent markings but according to a few collectors e have spoken to it is a European mold - presumably French. As is the 'parts' can only be displayed separately. The body measures 27x17 cm and the head has a height of 14 cm. Basically 1:1 scale of a human baby.

  • Vintage Ballerina Doll Factory Molds
    Located in Lambertville, NJ
Ballerina factory molds. Great and unusual find! When dolls were made in the USA, factories used copper molds to form body parts. A rubber compound would be poured into the form, hardened, then be removed. These are the leg and arm molds of a ballerina. These rare and unusual factory molds are from the mid-20th century. Contrary to the exterior roughness of these forms, the interior of the molds was designed to produce a beautiful leg/arm for this ballerina doll...
