Pair of French Carved Solid Oak Art Deco Bookends Signed E. JODET, Faiences etc.

About the Item

Extremely decorative and very finely designed Art Deco cubic bookends by LA ROCHE SUR YON - Maison Jodet, Faiences Et Verreries - La Roche Sur Yon. Signed with red and gold label on the bottom by E. Jodet. Clear and austere representation of a bison in solid oak in very vivid carving. The body shape of the bison is narrow in representation. The, fur, horns as well as the whole body is extremely skillfully staged by means of a ribbed carving technique and the grain of the oak. The base is plain and rectangular, which makes the animal look even more expressive.
