19th Century English Embossed Leather Wallpaper Screen
About the Item
Fantastic 19th century arts and crafts four-panel painted and embossed leather style wallpaper screen. The screen features thick embossed panels decorated with scrolling vines having fruit. The leather paper has a beautifully aged, weathered patina to commensurate its age and use. The front panel is finished in a deep cinnabar red color with patinated brass tack nail heads on the sides. The reverse side is brown with a heavily distressed patina and losses as seen in photos. Each panel has a gracefully arched top.
Provenance: From the estate of artist Ira Yeager (American 1938-2022) Calistoga, CA.
