19th Century Gilt Bronze Fire Guard with Bagpipe Centrepiece

About the Item

An elegant antique gilt bronze and mesh Louis XVI style fire guard, profusely decorated all round its square frame with ornate floral and foliage designs. The facade is formed from mesh wire, with a charming musically themed bronze centrepiece featuring a traditional French bagpipe, or 'Cornemuse', surrounded by exuberant ribbon bows and olive sprays. The screen is fitted with a decorative bronze lifting handle, and stands on four curvaceous rococo-style legs.
