About the Item

Vintage geometric red blue YSL fabric cushion with Irish linen pillow This cushion is a one-of-a-kind and part of a sustainability project. It has been created from an up-cycled, recycled luxury fabric, used with the intentions of promoting a more eco-friendly environment by using already existing materials. We both celebrate and cherish the past and take care with rare and precious vintage and antique materials. Through layers of carefully added backing the delicate fabric has been fortified for longevity and thus preserved. (The original designer/brand of the fabric has been fully credited below) Custom made one-of-a-kind luxury cushion created from an exquisite rare vintage Yves Saint Laurent fashion silk scarf in a striking design. Displaying an almost tile like patterning perhaps influenced by the designer’s love of Morocco and it’s Morrish architectural decor. The signature ‘Yves Saint Laurent’ logo takes features graces the bottom left and side encased proudly in a plaque like frame. Algerian-born French fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent is regarded as one of the greatest names in fashion history, credited with having introduced the tuxedo suit for women. Having worked alongside Christian Dior he become head of the couture house after his death at the age of only 21, and then followed by founding his own in 1962. Another iconic design was the ‘Mondrain’ dress, an innovative take on the modernist red white and blue artworks. His scarves reflected the designs in the clothing collection s and often incorporated the logo within the pattern, as in ours. On a sumptuous thick silk soft to the touch. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw color of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful mottled effect.
