FRANZ ROMERO De Sede ds57 Bugatti
About the Item
The Bugatti type 57, an icon of Art Deco design, inspired Franz Romero when he designed the DS-57 armchair for De Sede. The designer not only managed to incorporate the characteristic seating comfort of Bugatti car seats; he also accomplished a visually perfect embodiment of the car in armchair form. The chair is thus designed to reflect the characteristic, streamlined contours of the Classic car; naturally, you sit very low in it, as you would in a sports car, for seating comfort underscored even further by cushions that are inclined backwards. The armchair shape also takes on the contours of the fender, with voluminous armrests that extend to the floor: true to detail, they point downwards, as in the real Bugatti 57. The one-off piece in a perfect, streamlined form. The aerodynamic structures of DS-57 are uniquely delicate. The armchair is impressive for its striking runners and soft seating comfort. The steep seat gradient is achieved by means of a wedge-like base structure, sprayed with impact-resistant, high-gloss lacquer; in glazed solid oak or made of aluminum. Also available with integrated, height-adjustable headrest.
