Pair of 19th Century French Louis XIV Style Carved Walnut Fauteuils
About the Item
Beautifully carved pair of French Louis XIV style walnut fauteuils handcrafted in Lyon, circa 1820s, each having a high rectangle back and square section seat. Down-swept scrolling arms with volute acanthus carved armrests. Raised on a richly carved base, made of four carved legs joined with a shaped, carved "X" stretcher with center decoration, in a manner typical of the Louis XIV period. With a deep rich patina, this large and comfortable pair of French armchairs will make an elegant addition to the living room or library. Strong and sturdy with comfortable seating. Perfect for the husband wanting a roomy chair.
