About the Item
Pair of charming little armchairs in gilded beech, Art Deco period, completely restored with care by the TWS workshops (Calais) and revisited with the break of a magnificent leather from the prestigious Maison de Couture: Jean-Paul Gautier, just like their sublime feather cushions.
Period: Art Deco
circa: 1930
Measures: Total height 90cm / seat width 50cm / depth 50cm / seat height 45cm
In vogue in the 1920s, the Decorative Art style is easily recognized by its majestic geometric lines, its bright colors, its gilding and its magnificent paintings.
Art Deco combines functionality, elegance and conviviality. Arranged in this style, the interior becomes welcoming and warm.
Free and creative, Art Deco allows everyone to express themselves and create an interior that resembles them while emphasizing elegance and glamor.
Nevertheless, a few distinctive signs such as intense colors, noble materials and generous shapes dominate.
Our sublime pair of low chairs absolutely respects all the codes of this era of the crazy years. Initially, the fireside chair allowed you to warm up without having to bend over like you would with an ordinary chair.
The fireside chair was often used by the fireside.
From the 16th century, it was also used as a nursing chair thanks to its comfort of maintenance or as a swaddling chair for children at the height of the fireplace.
The advantage of the fireside chair was to allow you to have all the objects you needed around you, on the floor, and to keep the children at the height of the hearth.

- Pair Of Bookends - Silver Bronze - Pierrots - Max Le Verrier - Period: Art DecoBy Max Le VerrierLocated in CRÉTEIL, FRRare and very elegant pair of silver bronze bookends entitled: "Pierrots". (Max Le Verrier commercial catalogue, 1925, N° 466 Page 18, for the same model). These perfectly symmetrical figures are enhanced by a "Portor" marble base. Portor is a very rare marble that has been used in Italy and Corsica since Antiquity. It is characterised by a dark black colour with a very yellow vein, a sort of golden sinuosity. It seems that it owes its name to the town of Porto Venere on the coast of Genoa, where Louis XIV had the quarries exploited for the decoration of Versailles. This marble was widely used in the 17th, 18th and 20th centuries, particularly for Art Deco creations, on beautiful furniture, objets d'art and fireplaces.
