1950s Rare Eames Zenith Side Chair for Herman Miller, USA

About the Item

A very rare side chair designed by Charles & Ray Eames, manufactured by Zenith / Herman Miller in the United States of America around 1950. The first fiberglass Eames chairs were produced by Zenith Plastics and came in a limited palate of five colors. The early Zenith shells are distinctive for their high fiber content and larger, more substantial rubber shock mounts. This chair comes on the original, black metal frame which makes it an especially rare find. The shell is molded from a single piece with integrated armrests, giving the chair a nice comfort and also it’s iconic style that is still famous and popular around the globe! It remains in good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
