Charlotte Perriand High Berger Stool Authentic & Rare Mid-Century Modern

About the Item

Here we see the principle of the Japanese wabi-sabi, which refers to embracing imperfections and underlining impermanence. Rustic aspects, simplicity, modesty, and austerity offer a humble and honest beauty. Each piece is slightly different, where the imprecision and imperfection offer an enriching quality. Signs of age, patina, and the traces of use enhance the character of this piece. All parts are authentic. They are done in massive mahogany wood. Solid and rich in texture, it introduces a specific warmth. Charming irregularities show that each piece is unique. Perriand initially designed this piece for herself, and later used it in other projects. This one was specifically used for Les Arcs ski resort, where she also did interior design project. Mobile furniture like this piece was very unusual at the time. Due to her design philosophy which underlines the significance of simple things, she is considered the mother of the concept IKEA implements with their design concept. I like using this stool as a subtle detail. It introduces so much warmth into the setting with its warm material and familiar shape, while offering many possibilities in use. P! Galerie’s selection is mainly focused on rare French mid-century modern design artefacts by Pierre Jeanneret, Jean Prouvé, Le Corbusier, and Charlotte Perriand. Artefacts from our carefully curated collection are handpicked, and all traces and important indicators of authenticity are evaluated professionally. We try to preserve as much of patina as possible during the process of restoration, as it defines these historic pieces. Each object comes with a certificate of authenticity, offering you the opportunity to own a valuable artefact originating from a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site. Not only do we cooperate with museums and offer auction houses our services and expert opinion, we also look forward to welcoming you as a private collector and connoisseur. Stool model Berger designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1953-61. Relaunched by Cassina in 2011. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. Reclaiming simple materials and basic shapes, with an eye to architecture and mountain life, led to the creation of two historic design low table-stools inspired respectively by the milking stool used by mountain shepherds in the French town much loved by the author. Placed individually or in lively arrangements, the two low tables bring the pleasing lightness of solid wood to indoor settings emphasized by the continuity of the grain between the top and the edges and the countless natural variations in the wood. Each piece is made of unique solid wood, so every piece will be different from one another and not exactly as the one on the photos. Both pieces are inspired by the mountains. While the latter takes its name from the milking-stool used by alpine shepherds, the former is inspired by the French locality much loved by designer and architect Charlotte Perriand. These furnishing accessories stand out for the honesty of their simple shapes and for the concrete expression of their materials and function. The turned seat meets the stylised legs both in the Tabouret...
