About the Item

This is a set of four early Mid Century Windsor chairs from High Wycombe. Hoop back dining chairs with bobbin tail circa 1942. maker's stamp to the underside of the seat of O.Haines, High Wycombe Dated 1942 Initials Stamps to the rear wedge, G.R. Each with a hooped stick-back, the elm saddle-seat with rear wedge, raised on ring-turned legs, joined by a H-shaped turned stretcher. This set of 4 kitchen dining chairs boasts classic period country styling; they would be at home in either a traditional or contemporary setting and they consume very little space. Beautifully crafted, country kitchen dining chairs Good colour with desirable aged patina Elm saddle seat panels display grain interest Quality through joints from ring turned legs Legs united by circular section 'H' stretcher Ash hoop backs encase a six spindle backrest Most notably a double spindle rear support to bobbin tail for added strength A charming set of comfortable chairs. The chairs are a classic design and traditionally made from solid wood they have hoop shaped wedge backs in the traditional Windsor style with spindles These are very sturdy chairs. The wood has a good natural patination, they have not been stripped or stained. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through the years of care and cleaning they have received. This is a good quality set of Four chairs and would be the perfect addition to any Farmhouse Kitchen Condition: Very good condition Original condition Nominal old use marks to the leading edges (e.g., seats, back and legs) but nothing significant considering the age of them.
