Pair of Madsen and Schubell Model MS4 Wingback Lounge Chairs with Ottoman

About the Item

Here is a pair of MS-4 model wingback chairs with ottoman designed Henry Schubell, and produced in the 1950s by Madsen and Schubell in Denmark (this design was also licensed to Vik & Blindheim in Norway). These are the highback versions with beech wood frames and newer upholstery in two-toned Hallingdal wool fabric. This is a unique and very beautiful design, with swooping arms that wrap around the backs of these large and sturdy chairs. The upholstery is newer in Kvadrat Hallingdal wool fabric, dark gray for the seats, and the loose cushions in a contrasting light gray. The ottoman is upholstered in matching fabric but may not be original to the pair of chairs. Each chair measures approximately 28” Wide x 34” Deep x 40” Tall. The seat heights are approximately 16.5”. The ottoman measures 22.5” Wide x 17.5” Deep x 16” Tall. The chairs are in very good condition. The finish on the frames is excellent. The upholstery is newer, and the chairs are very comfortable. There is some minor signs of age and use, but overall this set is very very nice.
