20C Burgundy Executive Swivel Chair
About the Item
Presenting a lovely 20c burgundy executive swivel chair with beautiful detail.
These chairs were made in the mid to late 20th century. But they are of extremely high quality.
They are in the form of Captain’s or Executive swivel chairs.
We are of the opinion that they were made in America by a top maker.
They are covered in a leather style, burgundy color. They are in perfect working condition.
They are swivel and tilt chairs. They can be height adjusted.
They are made of walnut with gorgeous boxwood stringing on the armrest pillars and central support columns.
They have boxwood stringing and edging on the base of the seat.
The chairs have a comfortable curved back splat and they sit on 4 turned feet with ball castors.
The leather style vinyl is secured all around with studs.
We have 2 of them but are selling them individually as most buyers just need one for their desk.
A Captain’s Chair is a swivel and tilt chair with a curved back and central spindles.
The origin of Captain’s Chairs is not fully known…but it is believe that they were originally designed and made for use by Sea Captains in their rooms for use with their desk. They were easily moved around without the needs to get out of the chair and therefore practically immune to the rise and fall of the ship on the Ocean.
They became popular office chairs in the Early 20th Century. Mainly due to their comfort and ease of movement.
Whilst relatively contemporary these are quality chairs.
