Lido Sofa by Michele De Lucchi for Memphis Collection

About the Item

Wooden sofa covered with decorative laminate, metal elements, fabric upholstery. Lido, a sofa created in 1982 by Michele De Lucchi, is eccentric and elegant at the same time. The juxtaposition of forms and volumes plays with the combination of interlocking colored pieces. The black and white stripes of the decorative laminate trigger an intentional dissonance with the shapes and colors of the seat, back and armrests, where the padding is covered in fine fabric. The controlled anarchy of visual contrasts in Lido has taken the piece into the collections of leading museums, including the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam and the Vitra Museum at Weil am Rhein, Germany.
