Antique Country French Louis XIV Stripped Oak Secretary ~ Desk
About the Item
Antique Country French Louis XIV Stripped Oak Secretary ~ Desk is ideal for the efficient yet stylish interior! Providing surprising storage within the two full width drawers, the top opens up to reveal six small drawers for organizing minutia. Hand-crafted from solid oak, it presents less than a 20" deep footprint on the room, but when the slant-front desk is opened and held by the pull out supports, a nicely sized work surface presents itself, plenty of room for a writing tablet, an I-Pad or even a laptop. Starting at the floor, support is provided by four gracefully scrolled cabriole legs carved with acanthus plumes and paw feet, embracing the undulating scrolls of the apron adorned with cross hatching, stylized shell and foliates. The two drawers sport complementary carving on the sides, with finely cast brass pulls in the Rococo manner. The slant-front is lavished with fine molding detail, stylized shell, scrollwork and foliates for the perfect finishing touch. Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process that retains the patina and sheer natural beauty of the old wood, all performed by our expert in-house staff.
