Late 18th Century Louis XVI Cylinder Desk with central lock and beautiful patina

About the Item

Late 18th Century Cylinder Desk with beautiful Patina, 1800, France Cylinder desk with straight sides, closed in the upper part with a semi-circular flap, with two drawers. The whole rests on angular legs, richly veneered with with beautiful walnut grain and inlaid. The piece of furniture is equipped with a very rare central lock that closes two drawers and a flap. The surface inside the cabinet is covered with black leather. Condition: This furniture is in very good condition. It has been restored. The surface is finished with shellach and wax. Ready to use.     A late 18th century ‘secrétaire à abattant’, or drop-leaf desk, in fruit wood. This lovely piece of upright furniture benefits from a wealth of useful storage compartments, both internal and external. The front flap lowers down to become a writing surface, revealing three spacious open shelves and a range of slim drawers suitable for documents or trinkets. Four further external drawers, wide and shallow, and a white marble top, complete the design.
