Sideboard In Rosewood With Tambour Doors, Denmark 1960's

About the Item

The Danish sideboards are generally spacious and robustly built. Craftsmanship and refined sense of proportion is a constant factor. In addition, they also stood the test of time with verve. Design This sideboard has an impressive appearance solely due to the multitude of rosewood veneers alone. The sleek base is reinforced between the legs with a beam and the legs are also connected to each other over the entire length. Two tambour doors that make up the entire facade are seamless and have handles in the middle that make them easy to slide away. On top of that a deep patina that can be observed over the entire sideboard gives the drawings in the wood an extra dimension.Behind the doors, which have the advantage that they do not open but slide away, a wealth of storage space is hidden. On the left side there are two shelves that are height adjustable. To the right of the center are four drawers and to the right of these are two smaller shelves. Condition The condition of this beautiful sideboard is good with signs of wear that are normal for an object of this age. Small scratches and imperfections are part of this.

  • Biosca Sideboard in Stained Pine, Spain 1960s
    By BIOSCA
    Located in Hellouw, NL
Biosca sideboard in stained pine. This sideboard from the hand of the Spanish manufacturer Biosca is an absolute paragon of the brutalism style applied in furniture. Not much is known about this illustrious manufacturer and the available examples are rare and for good reason. They are very robustly crafted and they have more than stood the test of time and are actually only getting more beautiful. The proportions and techniques that have been used are things that we would like to categorize as sublime. Pure craftsmanship combined with a refined sense of detail and quality is what the makers have shown here. The corpus is connected at all corners by means of a brilliant tooth joint. Besides, this section rests on two sturdy and wide legs that both feature a striking cutout.Four relatively heavy doors are decorated with special geometric woodcuts that collectively form a beautiful pattern and add depth and dynamism. Small shadows alternate and give the object an air of mystery as it flirts with patterns similar to those found on 17th century Spanish doors...
