Arthur Brett George III English Crotch Mahogany Linen Press Wardrobe TV Cabinet

About the Item

Late 20th Century George III Armoire by the English Cabinetmaker Arthur Brett. A two piece case made from mahogany with panels of crotch mahogany, cross banding and inlay. The upper portion showcases beautiful flame mahogany doors, oval crossbanding, raised trim and a crown with dentil molding. Interior opens to a television compartment which could also be modified to be used with hanging clothes. Once open the beautifully burled doors can be displayed or slid into the back of the cabinet. Lower portion of the cabinet had two over two dovetailed drawer construction with oval brass hardware and recessed brass key escutcheons. Upper two drawer fronts flip open, perfect for TV / Stereo Component. The cabinet is supported by flared legs outside of serpentine cut aprons. Arthur Brett and Sons is an English furniture maker that was founded in 1870 in Norwich, Norfolk. The company specializes in bespoke furniture and architectural interiors, such as libraries and paneled rooms. Arthur Brett and Sons has a reputation for making high-end, traditional furniture that has the style of historical design.     Wear consistent with age and use. Good; Structurally Solid. Some marking and distressing from use and age. Tape residue inside of drawer. Finish wear / loss to legs. Most notably on the right two legs where they succumbed to moisture and show a darker appearance.
