18th Century Italian Louis XV Writing Table Inlaid Rosewood Center Desk

About the Item

Elegant 18th century Italian rosewood center table from Tuscany, Italy, a rectangular shaped Louis XV veneered desk with one small drawer on the front, raised by elegant à cabriole legs with superlative and contrasting ebony and box wood inlaid profiles, ending with curled feet. This antique Italian table is of Tuscan origin it comes from a private collection of a family from Cetona, near Siena, a charming medieval village between Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana. This antique center table showed wear consistent with age and use and minor losses, have been restored and polished and It is now in good condition. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 50 years ago requires a governative declaration for export. Moreover the item needs a CITES permit for restricted material for cross-border purchases, to be exported.     18th century, Italian Louis XV wood center table This elegant and refined center cabinet was made in Turin around the mid-18th century. Characteristic of the high Piedmontese cabinet making, for this piece of furniture, a veneer was chosen with the particular wood, applied on the piece of furniture with a sophisticated game of mirrors and patterns of the wood grain. The furniture has a shaped and wavy top, and the wooden essence creates a chromatic game called "a occhio di pernice" (partridge eye). On the front it consists of two drawers and a compartment protected by two doors. The opening system of the doors is sliding, very rare and difficult to achieve. The mouthpieces of the locks are in chiseled bronze and gold, as well as the tips of the four legs that are arched and graceful, typical of the Baroque. This cabinet is perfect for any room and can also be exposed in the center of a room thanks to its finish on all four sides. It is also suitable alongside modern and antique furniture.
