California Lamps & Shades Co. Silvered Egyptian Figures Glass Coffee Table, 1951
About the Item
A very uncommon and uniquely stylish 1951 Egyptian Revival-inspired Hollywood Regency figural glass top coffee table by California Lamps & Shades Company.
Free-form glass top held regally aloft by a strikingly beautiful and sculptural pair of lithe pharaonic-period Egyptian female figures in cast plaster with silver leaf finish over dark red ground. They kneel upon a satin black lacquered wood and masonite rectangular plinth base.
Top secured to figures with brass fittings. Manufacturer and date marked in mold on bottom of figure’s back foot. “Egyptian” handwritten in orange wax pencil on underside of base. Additional photos provided upon request.
Overall dimensions are listed. Base is H 2.5 in. x W 34 in. x D 11.75 in. Each figure is H 18 in. x W 14. in. x D 9.5 in.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Top: three tiny bubble inclusions from fabrication at edge; some faint scratches, with two noticeable. Figures: a few very small spots where silver leaf has worn off to reveal red paint. Base: some tiny dings on edges and faint lines from cleaning.
